His real name is Adam Richard Wiles, but the Scottish DJ, record producer, singer and songwriter, is known to the world simply as Calvin Harris.

Harris’ music success, with gold records such as Ready for the Weekend, have made the talented Brit an absolute fortune. He is estimated to be worth $170 million dollars. He is certainly not short of cash.

What’s more: he is only 32-years-old. Sure he isn’t worrying about his pension pot or working till he’s 65. Not bad for a guy who left school and started stacking shelves for a living. Yup, you read that correctly. From supermarket shelf-stacker to multimillionaire thirsty-something DJ.

He even worked in a fish processing plant when he left school — so he could save up enough money to buy the DJ equipment that would lead to his enormous future wealth.

Harris is the youngest of three siblings, and he is certainly the richest.

“Growing up in Dumfries, I got no sun - I spent all my time in my room making records. When I came to America, it made me recognise the benefits of sunlight. Oh, and I also got a good haircut. I used to have a terrible haircut.” once said Harris, reflecting on his career trajectory.

The Scot has since signed big contracts with some of the creme de la creme in the music industry. He has signed the dotted line with Three Six Zero Group, EMI, and Sony BMG.
What is reckoned to have played a big role in his being noticed by the right people, is his old school Myspace page. Who would have thought? He’s probably worth more than the network itself now.

Success has followed him since. Harris has smashed number one singles in the UK charts on his way to making a mint.

The ambitious Scot certainly goes after what he wants. The Daily Mail recently reported that Harris 'tried to woo Nicole Scherzinger but was knocked back as she's committed to toyboy beau Grigor Dimitrov’. Oh well, lets imagine that he has droves of suitors-in-waiting.

“When I was about 13 or 14, I only had an Amiga 500 Plus running a bit of tracker software called OctaMED. My brother was big into his computers, and when he moved up to a proper PC, I took charge of the Amiga.” the musician once said.

Harris’ one album even overtook Michael Jackson’s record for the most top ten hits from one album in the UK charts. In 2013 alone it is reckoned that he grossed over $46 million, making him the highest paid DJ. He’s also won Grammy’s and various other reputable accolades.

His collaboration with pop star Rhianna on the single We Found Love, let to his first US number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Like all big-time musicians, Harris has endorsed numerous brands, such as: Apple, Coca Cola, and KIA, the car makers.

Last year, the Sunday Times ranked the talented Scot the 30th richest Brit in music. Some people are just made for success.
