British supermodel and actress Cara Delevingne has risen rather rapidly to stardom over the past five to ten years after she signed with Storm Model Management. The young pretty model has since gone on to become one of the highest paid models in the business. She is reckoned to be worth a massive $18 million dollars.
Not bad for someone who is a fair few year off being 30, and only left school a mere 8 years ago.
Delevingne started her modelling career at the tender age of 10 for Vogue Italia, and landed roles in many Cadbury’s adverts as a young girl.
She has modelled for a wide range of top names, including Burberry, Mulberry, Dolce & Gabbana, and Jason Wu, among others. In 2012 a young Delevingne won the prestigious ‘Model of the Year’ award at the British Fashion Awards.
The British model, however, isn’t just a pretty face. She has also had some decent roles working as an actress, in films such as Anna Karenina and Suicide Squad.
But despite the riches the young Brit now enjoys, it’s probably fair to say that she wasn’t short of a pretty penny when she was growing up. Although born in London’s Hammersmith area, she actually grew up in Begravia, one of the wealthiest districts in the world, where wealth rubs shoulders with mega wealth.
Even Delevingne’s godfather is Condé Nast executive Nicholas Coleridge, a surefire global media giant. Two of her ancestors have served as majors of London, which is a fairly prestigious job, few would argue.
But the young wealthy Brit apparently wishes for more, such is her ambition. She once told the media: “If I was rich enough, I would love to launch my own record label. I would love to try and give all my musically talented friends a start in the industry.”
If she keeps working for the likes of DKNY, Chanel Resort and Burberry Beauty as she does currently, then perhaps her big dream that requires big money will be realised.
What’s fascinating is that unlike many other successful models, Delevingne is only 5ft 8”, which in unusual for models of her calibre. Perhaps family connections — as well as her stunning looks — helped pave the way for her.
“When I was younger, I liked money - the feel of it. I would sit with my dad and count his coins and be like, 'Yeah.' I'd saved £700 by the age of 10. I thought: 'What the hell am I hoarding this for?' So I bought a drum kit.” Delevingne once said.
It’s fair to say that she can probably now buy as many drum kits as she likes. Especially as the second highest paid model in the world.
