Ed Sheeran Set to Star in Own Musical Film
Internationally known singer-song writer Ed Sheeran told British GQ Magazine his aim was to become the biggest male artist in the world, -though little did we know he may have been plotting his way toward the silver screens to take on the role of a movie star.
Ed told The Sun newspaper:
“I really want to make a film that I do the soundtrack for and star in-that’s my next thing.”
“I look at a film like Notting Hill and I think that’s like a brilliant benchmark, or Once. So, if you were to mix Notting Hill with Once, I would say that would be a good start.”
Although he is no stranger to Hollywood since starring in the latest Bridget Jones last September and popping up in multiple episodes of ‘The Bastard Executioner’ in 2015, it would still be a first for Ed to make and star in a movie of his own.
If you were not aware he starred in the drama ‘The Bastard Executioner’ this would most probably be down to the fact that the TV drama only survived one season due to poor reviews but we won’t let this dampen our belief that Ed’s acting expertise are worth anything less than a BAFTA or an Ocsar somewhere along the line.
His music has featured in some blockbuster films too, including Fifty shades of Grey, Me Before you and The Fault in Our Stars.
Sheeran confirmed in an interview with The Sun that he is in talks with an unknown film-maker to make this talk a reality.
“I am in talks with one filmmaker that I really f****ing love and we are going to slowly but surely put something together.”
In relation to possible casting, he also said, “I would want to cast all unknowns. I want a low-budget, indie, British-made film.”
Our Framlingham-born-and-bred superstar certainly does not seem content with just domination the music charts and after a lot of 'thinking out loud', I guess only time will tell when it comes to finding out what he is capable of producing for his devoted fans. Watch this space!
