Due to the sheer size of the online casino space, there are now a significant number of variations to the classic table game of Blackjack. One such example of this is Blackjack Switch.
Blackjack Switch Online: Overview
When you play Blackjack Switch online, you are accustomed to a rather strange rule. In a nutshell, Blackjack Switch casinos allow you to swap two of your cards, to form a new hand. In order to play Blackjack Switch Online, players must make two individual bets on two separate hands.
If you think you like the sounds of playing Blackjack Switch online, we are going to show you how to play it below.
How to play at Blackjack Switch casinos
As mentioned above, the only way that you can play at Blackjack Switch casinos is to bet on two separate hands, with equal stakes. Once the stake has been determined, the dealer then proceeds to deal the player two face up cards, across each hand. The dealer will also deal themselves two cards, however only one card is face up. If the dealer has an Ace, then Blackjack Switch casinos will automatically check to see whether or not they have blackjack. If they do, the hand is over.
Once the hand is dealt, Blackjack Switch casinos allow you to swap the second cards that were dealt on each hand. Let’s take a look at an example.
You place a £10 bet on two separate hands. Hand one receives a 9 and hand two receives a 6. The dealer then deals hand one a 5, and hand two a 10. As a result, hand one has 14 (9 + 5) and hand two has 16 (6 + 10). Under normal circumstances, both hands would be considered weak. However, when you play Blackjack Switch online, you can switch the last two cards that were dealt.
With the player swapping the 10 and 5 across, two new hands are formed. Hand one now has 19 (10 + 9), and hand two has 11 (6 + 5).
At this point of the game, Blackjack Switch casinos offer the player two key options – Hit or Stick. If the player decides to Hit, then they are dealt another card. The player can keep hitting until they ‘Bust’, which is 22 or more. Players can also choose to Stick, which means that they do not take any more cards.
When it is the dealer’s turn to move, they have to keep hitting until they reach 17. Moreover, if they get a score of 17-21, then they must automatically stick. The important point here is that unlike the traditional variant of the game, Blackjack Switch casinos allow the dealer to stick on 22. As this is higher than the standard limit of 21, this would usually be considered a Bust. However, if the dealer finishes on a score of 22, then it draws with all other hands, apart from blackjack.
So now that we’ve covered the basics of how to play Blackjack Switch online, we are now going to breakdown the rules.
The Blackjack Switch Casinos rules
As Blackjack Switch has some considerable differences to the main version, it is important that you understand the most pertinent rules. Take a look at the following before you begin you Blackjack Switch Online journey.
Due to the underlying nature of the switch rule, Blackjack Switch casinos have altered the odds that they pay. Whilst the standard win of Even money remains in place when you beat the dealer, the odds for landing a blackjack are not 6/4. Instead, you will only get Even money.
As mentioned above, if the dealer gets a total score of 22, then it results in a ‘Push’ with all other hands. The only exception to this is if the player gets blackjack.
When a player chooses to double down, they essentially double the amount that they bet on a single hand. In doing so, you only get one more card from the dealer. Blackjack Switch casinos allow you to double down on any two hands, unlike other blackjack variants such as European or Single Deck Blackjack.
For example, if the player is dealt a total hand of 10, with the dealer showing a 6, a double down would be recommended.. Statistically speaking, not only is there a good chance that the player will land a high value card, but there is also a good chance of dealer busting.
When the player gets 21 from their opening two cards, then it is classed as blackjack. This can be any 10-value card, alongside an Ace. When you play Blackjack Switch online, you only get odds of Even money, as opposed to the standard 6/4.
If the dealer gets a total of 21, your blackjack will beat it. However, if you make a switch, which results in a total score of 21, then this is just a standard 21, not a blackjack.
When you play Blackjack Switch online, you are allowed to split same-value cards. As is standard practice, you will need to double your stake. Moreover, you are able to split hands up to four times. However, you can only split aces one. It is also worth mentioning that you are able to double down on a split.
The surrender option is offered to players as a way to exit a hand early, based on the weakness of the original two cards dealt. If utilised, the player gets 50% of their stake back. Unfortunately, this option is not available in Blackjack Switch.
