Although, in this case they’re perhaps not so poor. We thought we’d take a look at the top 5 highest earning celebs.
Floyd Mayweather – $300m
The brash and brilliant boxer Floyd Mayweather tops the list with his fists. Who says boxing is a dying sport, aye? When the highest earning celebrity in the world is putting leather on his hands for the handsome sum of $300 million in only a handful of fights, it tells a starkly different story. How you show or spend your cash, however, leaves open a few questions. Mayweather has a habit of flaunting his cash in some of the most tacky and tasteless ways possible — so one other thing we’ve learned is that money does not buy taste. He’s certainly worth a bomb though.
Manny Pacquiao – $160m
The Filipino whirlwind of a fighter that is Manny Pacquiao, earned $190 million and has been known to command at least $20 million a fight for quite some time now. For his huge fight against Floyd Mayweather on May 2 last year, he pocketed well over $100 million — in the highest grossing sports event in history for lacing up the gloves and pressing forward as his opponent gracefully backed up and beat him to the punch, as they say. Not bad for a kid who grew up in poverty and literally fought his way out of it.
Katy Perry – $135m
Katy Perry, the wonder girl of an American singer; but also a songwriter and actress — is quite frankly a mega earner, the third highest earning celebrity in the world. She started her lucrative career singing gospel music in church as a child. She then went on to secure some rather hefty deals with record labels, with career earnings on a trajectory that would make a Wall Street behemoth grin. With hits such as “I kissed a girl and I liked it” — who’d have thought that the church-singing church-going girl would go on to such financial success, singing about lesbian encounters and other frivolous stuff.
One Direction – $130m
Who would have though these five working class Brit boys whose 2010 run on X-Factor found they couldn’t even win the show, coming third place, would eventually go on to to be worth a net $130 million. But luckily for the band that became One Direction, music maestro Simon Cowell picked them up, and knew exactly how to project them into a global success. The band last year earned a colossal amount of money, even more so than the Rolling Stones. Even when the popular band member Zayn Malik left last year, they’re still topping lists of the big money league.

Howard Stern, the sixty-something American radio and television man, who also works as a producer, author, actor, and photographer, is known best for hosting The Howard Stern Show.
